Послевоенные 1940-50е – время бурного нарождения джинсовой моды. При этом качество ещё не страдало. Образец, который нам перепал — выдающийся по качеству и очень ценен, как исторический артефакт. Качество при покупке было сносным, но не вполне идеальным. Мы рискнули сделать реставрацию, о которой, возможно, расскажем (и покажем на фото) позднее.

После того, как джинсы оказались в руках, мы попросили продавца дать какие-то ссылки для того, чтоб можно было поточнее установить год производства. Нам была прислана исчерпывающая заметка эксперта по Levi’s, который систематизировал и виды, и даты производства 501й модели в период 1940-1960е годы. Мы приводим эту заметку без перевода. Надеемся, она окажется полезной или, по крайней мере, интересной любителям Levi’s.

V stitch is featured. The tab has big E, the edges of back pockets have single stitch. The bottom has chain stitch. The zipper is Talon made. The country of origin is US.

The pair of jeans above is a thing of 1960s. The model is Levi’s 501 Big E. The reverse side of the top button has a mark of “6(16)”. The front button has “ordinary R”. The edge of the watch pocket has single stitch, and the tab has big E. The front button has ordinary R, so these pair of jeans is a rare one made between 1968 and 69. The country of origin is US.

The pair of jeans above is a thing of 1980s. The model is 501 with a “red ear”. This is completely a thing of dead stock and very rare. The flasher remains perfectly without color loss. The top button’s reverse side was marked “555”. The tab has “small e” by print. The bottoms have selvedges on both sides. The flasher says the pair of jeans was made in 1984. The country of origin is US.

The stitch on the upper side of the waist is chain stitch. The back pockets’ edges have single stitch. The watch pocket’s edge has chain stitch. The front button has “long leg R” The bottoms have original chain stitch. These pair of jeans still keeps its deep blue colour. On the paper patch, you can confirm the “A” mark. These pair of jeans is thought to be made around 1960s. These model is also a very popular 501 BIG E among collectors. The top button’s reverse side was marked “8”, double stitch is featured. The button under the top button has “long leg R”, the tab has big E on both sides. The back pockets’ edges have single stitch.

These pair of jeans is a thing of 1940s to 50s. These model is very popular 501 XX. The leather patch remains firmly and doesn’t get so solid. The top button does not have a mark in the back. “V stich” is featured. The watch pocket has selvedge. The belt loop in the back is in center. The tab is without registered mark but with “big E”.

This pair of jeans is Levi’s 501ZXX, which is thought to be made around 1950’s. The top button has no carved seal. ‘V stitch’ is featured. The zipper is Conmar made, and it has channel bar shaped stoppers. The watch packet’s edge is without selvedge. The belt loop is not in the center. The tab has logos on both sides with “big E”s and registered marks. Inside the back pockets, hidden rivets are featured. Both sides have selvedges.

The pair of Levi’s 501XX seems to be made between 1940’s to 50’s. The top button does not have a carved seal, V stich is featured, the back’s belt loop is in the center, the tab has logo on one side, the back pockets’ edges have single stich sewing. The patch does not remain, but according to the above mentioned details, we believe that it had a leather patch. Both sides have selvedges, the back has hidden rivets. Size is unknown, overall length 93cm, waist 80cm, length 67cm, from crotch to waist 28cm, width of thigh 31cm, width of lower edge 22cm.
